What changed in the UCAT ANZ from 2025: Abstract Reasoning removed

Is Abstract Reasoning still in the UCAT ANZ?

No. Abstract Reasoning was removed ahead of the 2025 test. The UCAT ANZ now has four sections: Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and Situational Judgement.

Each section is still scored from 300 to 900. The total is lower only because one fewer section is added into it.

Is the UCAT ANZ out of 2700 or 3600?

It is out of 2700. The total is the sum of three sections, each scored from 300 to 900. Before 2025 it was the sum of four, which is where 3600 comes from.

Can you compare a score from before 2025 with one now?

No. The totals are on different scales, so the numbers cannot be read against each other.

A total of 2,500 was below the average in 2024. In 2026 the same number was above the 90th percentile. If an older student, a forum post or a video quotes a score, check which year it is from before comparing it with your own.

How to spot out-of-date preparation material

A book, video, course or question bank was written for the old test if it does any of these:

  • Includes Abstract Reasoning, or pattern and shape questions.
  • Describes five sections.
  • Gives the total as out of 3600.
